About the Client
Founded in 1970, Timmco Insurance is an independent agency located in Portland, Oregon. The company provides personal and business insurance solutions to clients in Oregon, Washington and California.
Objectives
In a highly competitive insurance marketplace, customers can buy policies from a variety of sources—including banks, direct marketers, and Internet-based services (e.g., the gecko). Fortunately, local independent agencies such as Timmco still differentiate themselves through highly personalized, face-to-face service. To keep its competitive edge, Timmco hired Galvin Communications to refresh its marketing strategy and to develop a word of mouth marketing plan for the future.
Results
Galvin Communications began with a full redesign of Timmco’s website, which had been using a standard template that did not reflect the company’s connection to the community. As part of the process, we conducted interviews with Timmco’s clients and solicited testimonials that were later incorporated into the company’s marketing collateral.
Through our media outreach efforts, articles written about and by Timmco were printed in Commerce Magazine, the Portland Business Journal, and Professional Insurance Agent.
Lastly, we developed content for Timmco’s printed newsletter, created an online newsletter program, established a referral system, and provided recommendations for networking within the community, including the company’s first “coffee & coverage” event.
